WHAT IS THE VEST DESIGNED FOR, AND WHAT CERTIFICATION DOES IT HOLD?
The vest features a flexible and slim back protector certified to EN 1621-2 at the higher safety classification Level 2. It also has a cushioning layer over the chest and collarbone, and is designed to protect your spine in the event of a fall from a horse.This safety classification does not cover use in Sweden during competition or for riders under 18 years of age.
HOW IS IT DIFFERENT FROM BETA 3 VEST?
Unlike a BETA 3 safety vest, our back protector vest does not protect against a horse kicking or stamping on the chest. However, according to injury statistics for equestrian accidents, this cause is extremely rare (under 1%) by far the most common cause of injury is a rider falling from the horse. The most serious injuries to protect the body against are spinal injuries, which can have catastrophic consequences.
WHAT MATERIAL IS IT FROM, AND IS IT PROPERLY VENTILATED?
The vest is made from an extremely ventilated and stretchy, high-quality mesh fabric, meaning it breathes well and feels cool even in warm conditions.
HOW SHOULD THE VEST FIT, AND HOW SHOULD I THINK ABOUT THE LENGHT OF THE BACK PROTECTOR?
See our size guide to find the right size, the material is highly flexible and suits most body types. Because the mesh in our vest is incredibly stretchy, there is often some flexibility when choosing back protector length. Some riders prefer a slightly shorter back protector that does not restrict movement at the lower back during riding, while others prefer a longer one to ensure coverage further down the lumbar region, even though the spine is thinner and more vulnerable higher up.
CAN I EXCHANGE THE VEST IF IT DOES NOT FIT?
Yes, that is no problem. Go to the website and follow the returns process step by step, and we will make sure you receive the size that fits you. If you have the opportunity, it is always best to try a couple of adjacent sizes for example, at our pop up store or your nearest Hööks store.
