Why is YELM's Hybrid Helmet 1.0 safer than other helmets and why does it cost more than lower-end helmets?

When we developed our Hybrid Helmet, we looked at the concept of safety from a slightly new perspective and didn't just focus on the millisecond you hit the ground, even though that millisecond is an extremely important part. The starting point was to see how we can support safety both before, during and after a potential accident. This resulted in our system thinking "Avoid. Protect. Rescue." Where we both help to avoid the accident, protect the head in the event of an impact and ensure that an injured rider gets help quickly.Avoid. ex. Is it important to have Mips in the helmet and what does it protect against?

In the event of a fall, riders move both downwards and forwards towards the ground, which then creates a rotation of the helmet. In other words, you need to protect the brain against forces created by straight impact as well as rotational violence. Over the past 10 years, research has shown more clearly the strong link between rotational violence and brain injuries.The MIPS system attenuates the rotational energy by being a thin shell inside the helmet that can move compared to the outer shell with a dampening of the energy. We consider it a hygiene factor for all helmets to protect against rotational violence and have chosen to include the MIPS system in all our helmets.

How does the +Alert Fall sensor work?

The fall sensor is connected to an app in your mobile phone, which in the event of an impact where the rider then does not move, sends SMS with GPS coordinates to the rider's ICE contacts. The rider receives an alarm via sound and light and if it is not interrupted within 30 seconds, information is sent to ICE in the event of an accident.

What is YELM's +Module system and what accessories are available for it?

We have included a modular system where the rider has the opportunity to add accessories to the helmet according to their own needs. There is currently both the Fall Sensor that can enable quick help after an accident, as well as a powerful headlamp from Silva that can help avoid an accident in the first place. We will also present more very interesting solutions that can be added to the helmet.

Why is size adjustment good, can I influence the fit and how do I know which size is right?

A helmet must fit properly on the head in order to protect properly. With our fine-tuning system, you can easily find a perfect fit and also be able to use the helmet for a longer period of time as a youth when the head grows. We also have a special JR liner that has a little thicker padding for even greater adjustability.

Why have you focused on comfort such as low weight and adjustable ventilation?

We know that many people find helmets heavy, bulky and sweaty, which can also affect your performance in the saddle in a negative way. The goal of Y/ELM+ is that you should not mark our products when you use them, but that they provide maximum protection when the occasion requires. All other times you should feel unhindered and free, according to our motto: Ride Safe. Ride Free.Among the helmet's features for comfort are an incredibly low weight, adjustable ventilation for the Swedish changeable weather, an inner fabric that wicks away moisture and keeps the helmet fresh, and the magnetic safety buckle for the chin strap, which can be opened and closed with one hand so that the rider never has to let go of the horse.

Can I take out the soft liner inside the helmet to wash?

Yes, the inner liner is excellent to take out and hand wash. Hopefully you won't have to do that to a large extent as we have both adjustable ventilation and an inner liner with coolmaxl fabric in it to avoid moisture and odor.

How long can I wear a helmet and can I buy a used one?

The helmet is greatly affected by how it has been treated over time and should always be replaced after a maximum of 5 years. If it is exposed to very dry and hot air, it will age faster, especially if it is exposed to a lot of direct sunlight. When the helmet receives a major impact, it should be replaced, especially if there is any visual sign of cracking in the shock-absorbing core. Based on this, we advise against buying a used helmet, as it is very difficult to know how it has been handled.

Where is my package?

When your order is handled, you will receive a delivery message from us with a tracking link. There you can follow your delivery. If you have not received an email or have other questions about your delivery, please contact customer service.

Can I change the delivery address after the order is placed?

Normally, the carrier, who delivers your order, charges a fee for changing the delivery address. Contact customer service and we will help you with a solution.

Which shipping company do you deliver with?

How do I return an item?

You can always return an item, however, the item must be unopened in its original packaging and/or still with the hangtag on. You will find the return slip in your order and you can hand in the package at the nearest agent. Contact customer service and we will help you with any other questions.

What do I do if I receive a damaged item?

Contact customer service if you have received an item that is damaged and we will help you. If the packaging is damaged, please document how the package looked upon delivery.

When will a returned order be refunded?

Within 14 days of receiving your return. Should there be anything wrong with your return, we will contact you as soon as we can.

We are constantly looking for new retailers so that you as a customer can come and try it directly in store. You are also welcome to our office to try it out. Just email us in advance so we can make sure to meet up with you.

When will you make the helmet in a larger size?

We are currently working on a larger size and we will hopfully have it ready in the beginning of 2025.

How are the products quality assured?

All our helmets are tested and approved according to CE directives. The earlier standard was called EN 1384 2017.It has now been updated and is called VG1 01.040 2021.
