Y/ELM+ was founded in Stockholm in 2021 out of a desire to remedy the lack of a progressive and innovative protection brand on the riding market.
Behind the brand is rider Alexandra Berhe, who, together with product development expert Erik Liden, wants to take safety for riders to the next level. Alexandra brings the experience and intuition of a longtime rider to the brand, having spent countless hours in the company of horses, in the stable, and outdoors. As a product consultant and former member of the team behind Swedish snow sports and cycling protection brand POC, Erik adds an unmatched product development expertise to Y/ELM+. The duo aims to raise the overall safety standard for riders to match it with products in other activity sports such as cycling, skiing, and climbing.
Alexandra: ”I’ve long felt that the riding sport deserves much better protection products. The safety bar for riders could be considerably higher. With Y/ELM+, I want to provide products that exceed the high safety standards and innovation of high-risk sports like downhill skiing, climbing, and cycling. But not only that. Equally important is that riders actually want to wear the product. That’s why we put so much effort and energy into making our products feel unobtrusive, comfortable, and look good.”

The Hybrid Helmet 2.0 offers complete protection against both linear and angular impacts. Built with MIPS technology, an ABS safety shell, and a Polymer fusion core, it absorbs impact energy and reduces rotational force, keeping riders safe. The adjustable fit system, magnetic buckle, and top ventilation ensure comfort and performance in any ride.
The Helium Vest 1.0 is a lightweight, high-performance back protection vest with chest padding for freedom of movement and impact resistance. Made from Italian lycra, it offers a snug fit, flexibility, and breathability. The back protection is certified at level 2 according to 1621-2:2014 standards.
Angular impact protection.
MIPS system.
Most modern riding helmets only protect from linear force, like dropping a helmet straight to the ground. But all falls from a horse in motion will include an angled impact. These impacts can cause rotational motion that may stretch your brain and lead to severe injuries. Hybrid 1.0 is built with MIPS rotational protection system to help protect against rotational motion.
The MIPS system decreases the rotational motion through a low–friction layer inside the helmet that allows multi-directional movement of 10—15mm on certain angled impacts. The layer is specifically constructed to help reduce and counteract rotational force to the head.

Tocsen crash sensor.
The Hybrid 1.0 helmet is designed for the addition of Tocsen’s crash sensor for riders who wants to enhance their safety. The Tocsen crash sensor allows riders to be out and about with their horse without ever risking being cut off from civilization. In an emergency, the sensor triggers an SMS and APP message with the rider’s location to ICE and the Tocsen rescue community directly after a fall.
The Tocsen rescue community consists of 30 000+ riders, cyclists, hikers, and others who use the free safety APP. This way, the closest users nearby will be alerted. And riders who fall and feel ok can give an OK signal from the app anytime. The sensor works for about three months and is easily rechargeable via micro USB, not to mention weatherproof.
